Linear (if you have to have sidequests, tone them down significantly and bury them inside the linear main story), set weapons with no lootable gems or crafting and an upgrade system similar to 2013, and maybe take away half of Wang's lines. Honestly, if I could change something, it would be to just make SW2 the direct sequel to 2013 that I was expecting. 2 was experimental and all over the place. Basically, 2013 was a tighter, more directed experience, and it showed. In 2, maybe your shotgun is slotted with stuff that doesn't synergize particularly well, so it sucks and you either go back to town and reslot it and hope it's better this time, or you slog through a mission with the rest of your arsenal. The game is designed around that SMG being the SMG you'll have, or that shotgun being the shotgun you'll have. You find a new weapon, it auto-binds to slot, there's only a few upgrades for it, and that's that. In the first game, the weapons were handled classically. The worst of it was how even once you had kitted yourself out, there's no guarantee that what you were using would be strong. That's the kind of talent that nobody thinks is fun, and should be baked in at base if you think you need loot at all. The developers should have realized something was amiss when they created a passive talent that specifically made your loot pickup range wider. The pacing was disrupted every single time something dropped that I didn't pick up without going out of my way. The more time I'm spending in menus comparing numbers and assigning weapons to slots, the less time I'm spending killing things, and that was the problem. Loot and crafting are the antithesis of what makes Shadow Warrior fun. Shadow Warrior 2 attempting to borderlands itself was probably the single biggest mistake that game made (and it made a few). By the end of 2, Kamiko was still pretty unlikable and hadn't really changed. He had a character arc, and his story had an end. I think it helped that the 2013 game had a great character for him to bounce off in Hoji, while 2's sidekick Kamiko was just shrill and annoying. Wang is a fun character, but less is more when it comes to quips. But 2 came off as trying a little too hard, like they were trying to turn his wisecracking up to 11. Tone of humor was perfect in 2013, it really sold Wang as this sarcastic wannabe badass ninja. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
